Per l'estrema severità della direzione del carcere è assolutamente necessario rispettarre le seguenti regole, o la posta vi tornerà indietro:
E' permesso spedire biglietti d'auguri, o lettere, specificando sul retro la data di spedizione e il numero di pagine che la costituiscono.
E' permesso spedire anche foto personali, ma non foto da giornali o altri ritagli.
E' permesso spedire nastri registrati, ma senza musica! Altrimenti vengono considerati come merce di contrabbando ed è probabile implichino ritorsioni disciplinari contro Karl.
E' permesso spedire libri in regalo ma solo da parte di editori, librerie, scuole e parrocchie,
perciò se non rientrate in queste categorie, ma potete usarne la busta e la carta intestata, è possibile che Karl li riceva. Deve essere sempre presente l'indirizzo del mittente.
Non è permesso spedire nessun altro oggetto.
Non è permesso spedire denaro in busta chiusa. Karl ha comunque un suo conto corrente ma non è consigliabile spedire denaro direttamente al carcere, né tramite vaglia né tramite altro sistema.
Non usare punti metallici o clip.
E' possibile spedire tramite posta ordinaria, posta prioritaria o raccomandata. I tempi d'arrivo sono comunque molto lunghi, mediamente un mese.
CONTROLLARE SEMPRE ATTENTAMENTE CHE L'INDIRIZZO SIA COMPLETO E COMPRENDA IL SUO NUMERO DI MATRICOLA!

Since the prison regulation is very hard, it's quite necessary to observe the following rules, or your mail will be rejected:
You're allowed to send greetings cards, or letters. Better if you write behind the envelope the forwarding date and your letter's number of pages.
You're allowed to send your own photos, but not photos from newspapers or cuttings.
You're allowed to send recorded tapes, but with no music! Or they'll be regarded as smuggled goods, and Karl may even put on report for that.
You're allowed to send books, but only if you represent a publisher, a book shop, a school, or a church. Anyway Karl may receive them if you use headed paper. You've always to write the sender's name.
You're not allowed to send any other item.
You're not allowed to send cash. Karl has his own account, but better if you don't send any money to the prison, be it cheque, or IMO, etc. Better if you send money straight to his mom, see address below.
Never use clips, staples, or metal bindings.
You're allowed to send by ordinary, priority or registered mail. Yet usually the mail arrives in a month.
ALWAYS CHECK OUT KARL'S ADDRESS, IT MUST BE WRITTEN AS ABOVE AND COMPLETE OF HIS NUMBER!
